With over 1,000 chapters in U.S. colleges and universities, Psi Chi is the National Honor Society for Psychology. It was founded in 1929 for graduate and undergraduate students who strive to maintain academic excellence and advance the science of Psychology.

The scholarship of all Psi Chi members is valued. An official membership card and certificate are awarded to each member. Medals, honor cords, and stoles can be purchased to wear at graduation.

Psi Chi regularly publishes an informational magazine, Eye on Psi Chi, to keep members informed and to recognize student accomplishments. Psi Chi also publishes a quarterly journal of undergraduate research. All Psi Chi members are eligible to apply. Psi Chi offers many research awards and grants to members dedicated to the field. Additionally, Psi Chi hosts a number of events and conferences, giving students many opportunities to present their research while networking with professionals across the country. At UCR, Psi Chi offers guidance to its members in several areas.

Dr. Carolyn Murray, a professor in the area of Social/Personality Psychology is the faculty advisor. She provides many useful resources for students preparing for graduate school.

The Psi Chi chapter at UCR hosts many events to better equip students for success. Professors, graduate students, Clinical Psychologists, and guidance counselors from the Career Center represent some of the talented speakers who share their knowledge at Psi Chi events.
